WALD (Forest) is a two-channel film commissioned for Kustnacht Kempten in 2019 to transform the main square into a forest. Images from our archive of global forest research were projected on two large double-sided screens, while bright spotlights shone from the other direction. As audience members blocked the light, more forest became visible, but anyone blocking the projection on the other side would conceal the images. A live soundscape encouraged the audience to move. In this way the installation worked like a political ecosystem, emphasizing the interdependency between man and forest.

Soundscape: Samuel Wootton and Silvan Strauß. Photo documentation: Felix Grünschloß
