photography and design around architecture

Combining our interests in architecture, graphic design and lens-based art, we make works that explore the spectacle between manmade environments and natural landscapes. We also design projects for diverse clients and teach courses in architecture and art. Our studio is based in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Adrianne Wilson

is an architectural and graphic designer. For the past four years, she was part of a Singapore-based research team studying the active volcanoes of Java, Indonesia, as very large architectural objects. Her resulting 'Volcanarium' series of drawn volcano portraits have been published and exhibited in Singapore, the United States and Europe. She has collaborated with architectural offices and artists on design proposals, research projects and teaching studios. She has a Master of Architecture (M.Arch, 2013) from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was a graduate teaching assistant, and a Bachelor of Graphic Design from N.C. State University (1999).

Tobias Wootton

is a lens-based artist and lecturer. His ongoing work, the Architecture of Spectacle, examines purpose-built temporary structures for extreme sport events. His works, mainly large-scale photographic prints and video installations, have been published and exhibited in various solo and group shows across Europe. In 2016, he was commissioned by the Swiss government to portray official government buildings for the publication and exhibition Bundesbauten - Die Architektur der offiziellen Schweiz. He teaches large-format photography at the ETH Zürich Department of Architecture, and for six years taught Media Art at the University of Art and Design / ZKM Karlsruhe. He studied Media Art at the University of Art and Design / ZKM Karlsruhe, and graduated from the MFA at the Glasgow School of Art in 2010.
